About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Distribution, Construction, the incumbent will be accountable for the inspection, installation, maintenance and testing of all types of revenue metering equipment and related systems.
What you will do
- Install, repair, prepare, evaluate, configure, upgrade and replace electric meters and associated communications and instruments in accordance with Measurement Canada regulations and Oshawa Power standards and policies;
- Install, test, operate, upgrade and maintain all smart meter communications systems and associated hardware;
- Install, test, operate and maintain interval metering communication systems, including, but not limited to, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Cellular & RF based systems;
- Perform cross phase testing and analysis on site and/or remotely;
- Install and operate recording and testing instruments to monitor system disturbances;
- Generate, modify, update, maintain and preserve all meter documentation, as required by Measurement Canada;
- Write reports, document and perform safety tailboards and maintain internal records as required;
- Collaborate with customers, contractors and other departments on metering standards, practices and installations;
- Analyze and test accuracy of meters and associated instruments on customer premises to verify measurement and billing;
- Assist in the training of apprentices;
- Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA rule book and Oshawa Power Safe Work Practices;
- Other duties as required.
What you have to offer
- Post-Secondary Education from an Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technician Program or equivalent;
- We are currently seeking a candidate with MEA Journeyperson Metering Certification
- Have received and/or eligible for OACETT certification as a Technician or Technologist;
- Must possess a valid Class G driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications;
- Knowledge of various types of communication systems and associated hardware for Smart Meter technology;
