Electricity rates don’t need to be complicated. Whether you are on the Time-of-Use or Tiered pricing plan, we’ve set out to make understanding your rates simple.

Time-of-Use Pricing

Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing is designed to promote conservation during times of peak demand. By changing your usage habits to take advantage of Off-Peak periods, you can save big on your electricity bills and help keep Ontario’s energy mix one of the cleanest in the world.

Periods of peak demand change with the seasons. On the TOU plan, pricing will change twice per year, on May 1st to summer hours, and on November 1st to winter hours. Weekends and holidays are billed at Off-Peak rates year round.

Rates Effective November 1st, 2024

Off-peak ¢7.6/kWh
Mid-peak ¢12.2/kWh
On-peak ¢15.8/kWh

Tiered Pricing

Not sure if TOU pricing works for your lifestyle? Oshawa Power customers can opt for the Tiered pricing plan instead. Tiered pricing charges one fixed rate, regardless of the time of day, until you reach a certain monthly usage threshold.

Just like TOU, the Tiered pricing plan changes twice per year; to summer thresholds on May 1st and back to winter thresholds on November 1st.

Ultra-low Overnight (ULO) Rate Plan

Much like the current TOU pricing plan, the ULO Plan incentivizes shifting your energy use overnight. Where the plans differ, is in the hours and energy costs for that off peak usage.

If you are able to consistently use the bulk of your electricity overnight and avoid usage during peak times, ULO could have you save on your electricity bills.

Rates Effective November 1st, 2024

Ultra-low Overnight ¢2.8/kWh
Weekend Off-peak ¢7.6/kWh
Mid-peak ¢12.2/kWh
On-peak ¢28.4/kWh

Customer Choice

As an Oshawa Power customer, you have the ability to choose between Ontario’s TOU and Tiered pricing plans dependent upon your lifestyle. Tiered pricing allows you to use electricity how you want, when you want but increases in price after reaching a monthly threshold. TOU pricing charges you a different price depending on the time of day, allowing you to find savings by shifting your usage to periods of lower demand.
